Be advised, Colorado Medicaid PHE is ending. In January 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced a Public Health Emergency in response to COVID-19. Legislation was passed which guaranteed anyone who was actively enrolled in the Health First Colorado Medicaid program could keep their health coverage during the PHE. Many of our families are Colorado Medicaid Members. So, how might this impact you?
Starting in March 2023, notices are going out to active members advising PHE is ending on May 11, 2023. Health First Colorado and CHP+ will return to normal eligibility renewal processes with renewals due in May 2023. The state will start re-determining Medicaid eligibility by April 1, 2023. States will have up to 14 months to re-determine eligibility. This means that not everyone who has been able to keep their Medicaid plan will still be eligible for renewal.
Keep an eye out in your mail as this is how Health First Colorado will notify members of the restarting the revalidation process.
If you are a Medicaid member, here are the steps you can take to prepare:
1. Update your contact information so they can reach you.
2. Respond to and sign renewal paperwork to make sure you keep their Health First Colorado and CHP+ coverage if you are still eligible.
Note: Members can find out their renewal dates and access more information at https://www.healthfirstcolorado.com/renewals/
